Auld Lang Syne

(video, 4.23 ´)

This video shows a fountain in a public square in Beijing that has been programmed to move according to different pieces of music (a strange mix between classic, folk and pop) most of which originate in the western music tradition. The square is surrounded by a series of buildings still under construction which came to replace the traditional Chinese settlement. The song documented in the video is the instrumental version of an old Scottish traditional (Auld Lang Syne) which was transcribed by the poet Robert Burns.
